Smart Home & IoT
Megatam designs, builds and operates connected-home hardware and IoT services — including LumDIY, our own smart home hub.
Alongside our software consulting work, Megatam develops and operates LumDIY — a smart home hub and a range of connected devices for residential and small-commercial installations. We handle the whole stack ourselves: the hardware, the embedded firmware, the mobile and web applications, the cloud relay service, and the voice-assistant integrations.
One hub, five radios
A single LumDIY hub replaces the separate bridges that connected-home devices usually require, talking to all the common home-automation protocols at the same time.
Z-Wave
Mesh networking for switches, locks and sensors.
Zigbee
Low-power mesh for lighting, plugs and sensors.
Wi-Fi
Direct control of Wi-Fi connected appliances.
Infrared (IR)
Air conditioners, televisions and other IR appliances.
433 MHz RF
Gates, blinds and legacy remote-controlled equipment.
Connected devices we support
Through the hub, LumDIY controls and monitors:
Lighting
Smart bulbs, dimmers and lighting circuits.
Switches & sockets
Including our own glass touch switches.
Blinds, shutters & gates
Motorised openings, driven on schedule or on demand.
Climate control
Air conditioning, heating and thermostats.
Sensors
Motion, door and window, temperature and humidity.
Local first, cloud optional
LumDIY is a locally-controlled hub. Automations run on the hub in the home itself rather than in the cloud, so the system keeps working when the internet does not, and device data stays on the customer's own hardware. Remote access, when it is used, runs over an encrypted tunnel.
Our own hardware: glass touch switches
We produce wall-mounted glass touch switches in vertical and horizontal layouts. Every button can be named and reassigned from the app, so what a button controls can be changed without rewiring.
Google Home integration
LumDIY integrates with Google Home so devices can be controlled by voice through the Google Assistant and from the Google Home app. When a customer links their LumDIY account, we relay smart home requests to their hub and report device state changes back to Google's HomeGraph. Customers can disconnect the integration at any time.
How we handle data is set out in our Privacy Policy, and in more detail in the LumDIY privacy policy.
